Dr. Seuss
Love this. Dr. Seuss is a great party theme for a girl or boy. Pretty much anything crazy or weird will go with this one. This was designed as a baby shower, but I think this would be really cute as a birthday party too!! Check out this party by Heather Equitz of Heather Equitz Designs featured on Pizzazzerie.

Amanda and Annie
Last October I read Julie and Julia. It really inspired me to cook. I can cook, I think..I just don’t. Lack of time, lack of well…everything. And let’s just face the facts, it’s French cooking, and I have no interest in eating or cooking French food. It’s either unappealing (Artichokes with Hollandaise Sauce) or impossible to pronounce (Beef Bourguignonne).
But when my sister recommended Annie’s Eats to me this past summer by making Lemon Blueberry Cupcakes and Cinnamon Sugar Pull Apart Bread, I quickly became addicted. So I thought I would start ‘Foodie Friday’. We will see how this goes. I really want to try one new thing a week. It doesn’t have be something I have never eaten before, just something I have never made from scratch…you know like Blueberry muffins. I can make them from a box…but from scratch..that has yet to be accomplished. So here we go. Starting next Friday I am going to post one of Annie’s recipes along with a picture of my own finished product. My personal Julie and Julia project =) I hope you enjoy…

I think that this is a great idea courtesy of Landee See, Landee Do. Could even be done with holiday parties and a cookie exchange. Ummm. I will be planning one of these for soon. Now if only I knew how to properly ice a cupcake...

DIY Patio Lights
DH and I have been looking for Patio lights FOREVER. Every time we go to Target we have to stop and look. But nothing seems really to be worth the price. These DIY Patio Lights cost $1. Apparently you can buy a bag of the globes at Dollar Tree. I will have to stop to see! You can view the entire project by Craftybutt here

Remodeling the house: The Kitchen
I thought it be fun to do some before and after's of our house on the blog. Unfortunately, I wasn't really around when the house was first purchased, so I don't have any pictures from "before" before. These before pictures are from Summer of 2006. DH's Aunt Brenda took most of the before shots. Thank God for her, because otherwise I would have nothing. So here we go. In the first picture, the cabinets, countertop and sink have already been removed. They were in terrible shape, which would probably make the before and after even better, but oh well. The kitchen and stove in this picture are the same and remain in the same place. BTW: Does anyone else hate the way blogger does photos now? I had a terrible time trying to move these around...grr...
Here is the first before and after: As you can see, we took out the wall on the left side of the kitchen to open it up and make room to actually put a table in the kitchen. It's a grand idea!

After |
Before |
After |
We put wainscoting up on the walls and painted it red. Then we had the cabinets and countertop installed. We knew someone who did the install really cheap, so we went with that and it was done in a day. I really love my rugs. We got them at Wal-Mart--haha. But now they are like 5 years old and they really need replaced, but I just can't bear to part with them until I find something that I love more.
DH also put up a wood ceiling and crown molding. You can see it a little bit here. We also put in Pergo floors. I love them and I think all of it together looks great. As you can see there is still some painting to be done, but I think we are going to pull off the door trim and redo it to match what we have in the bedrooms.

Summer sip and see
Thought I better slide this one in before summer is officially over. I found this via Kara @ Kara's Party Ideas.
I love the pineapple theme they had for this party. Pineapples are the symbol for welcome and the sign says, 'A welcome change' This is so cute!

Super hero Birthday
Ok, If you have a child that loves Superheros you MUST see this party. It is absolutely adorable. It was shot by a professional photographer and therefore this is the only photo that I can share. I love the idea they did of making the kids do tasks to become superheros. Then they all got capes. Amazing. You can view the entire party here.
